I have a 6 month old...I can't freakin' believe it. Well, I suppose I can believe it because she's a shrieking, cooing, grabbing, rolling, scooting, toy-banging 6 month old.

6 months ago it took me every bit of 5 minutes to change those first diapers. Now, I think I can get it finished in 30 seconds flat, and that's only if she's being a wiggle monster.

6 months ago I changed her outfits 2 or 3 times a day. Now I just wipe the drool/sweet potatoes/cat hair, etc off the outfit and keep her in it all day.

6 months ago I cringed when the dog or cat came too close to her. Now they are her closest pals.

6 months ago we were up every 2 hours feeding her....and now my angel baby sleeps straight through the night. Let's face it, I got lucky and she's been sleeping through the night since she was 2 months old.

6 months ago there were no funny baby expressions, no eyebrows raised, no babbling in the car on the way home. Now she seems more and more like a little person with a BIG personality.

Baby Talk

Evie and I have been having some really great talks recently.
She's a great listener when she's not mocking me and blowing raspberries.

For example, just last Thursday on the way to daycare we had a really great conversation about how stressful work is. Goals, deadlines, money money money....she agreed wholeheartedly with a well-timed raspberry.

Yesterday while changing her diaper we discussed accessorizing and choosing a cute outfit. She responded by taking the pants I was holding up and putting them in her mouth.

And tonight, it was just us girls. Daddy is out jamming with the boys so Evie and I had a great convo about the Bachelorette. I'm Team Roberto, but she seems to be Team Chris. Regardless, I can just tell she dislikes Frank too.

Kyle is going to kill me when he finds out I discuss reality TV with our little girl...but it could be worse...I could be singing her inappropriate songs again. "To the windows, to the walls, to the sweat drip down my...." Well, you get the point. Give me a break though. I'd do anything to make her smile.

First Laugh

This is from several months ago, but I can't resist sharing it again. I still watch it if I'm having a rough day at work because you just can't help but smile when you watch it. She doesn't laugh at the bird on her activity center much anymore. She mostly laughs at her daddy...and who wouldn't...he's funny looking.

5 Mommy Blogger Stereotypes

So I've resisted being a "Mommy Blogger" for a long time now (a whole 6 months) and before that, I was resisting being a Preggo Blogger...simply because I didn't want to be one of "those" Mommy Bloggers. I'm officially giving in and trying it out because with all this extra time on my hands [note the heavy sarcasm] I need something else to keep me busy.

I've noticed 5 distinct types of Mommy Bloggers, so I'll take this first post to assure you that I am not one of them. Plus, I can go ahead and get the stereotypes out of my system.

1)
The Couponing Mommy - Yes, I coupon and yes I buy the Sunday Cincinnati Enquirer purely for the coupons inside. I used to be embarrassed to coupon...hated being in line at the Hyde Park Kroger with a fist full of coupons while yuppies behind me carrying lettuce, cottage cheese and Diet Coke sighed heavily. Go to the Express Lane and quit your eye rolling! I will not, however, be blogging about it.

2)
The "My Baby's Poop is" Mommy - We've started feeding Baby Girl carrots now, so if you're a mom, you know what that means. If you're not a mom, you could care less. That's why I'll avoid blogging about poop and other topics that fall into the TMI category.

3)
The Crafty Mommy - I don't sew my own baby clothes, make unique hair bows for her or make elaborate photo collages of our family. Someone gave me a scrap book before Baby Girl was born...and in 6 months I've done 4 pages. I'm just not cut out for crafts.

4)
The Cooking Mommy - 3 words - I DON'T COOK. My husband does, and on the rare occasion that I do stuff some odd concoction in the oven, trust me, you don't want the recipe.

5)
The Green Mommy - We recycle and we try to do our part, but I just can't do the whole cloth diaper thing, and if I tried to use the reusable grocery bags I would just end up forgetting them at home. My dog would trample any kind of vegetable garden we would try to plant and sometimes, bottled water is just more convenient, so I'll just stick to my recycling and leave all the rest for you hippie moms out there.
